Our company was proud to be named a finalist for the 2019 Texas Family Business of the Year, as presented by the Baylor University Institute for Family Business.
As a finalist, we were invited to attend the 2019 awards banquet on Friday night, November 8, 2019, at the Paul L. Foster Campus for Business and Innovation.
This amazing evening was a homecoming for two members of our executive team, Baylor graduates Van Blasingame and Mollie Blasingame.
Additionally, it was fitting for our company to be recognized at the banquet. This was the 30th anniversary of the Texas Family Business of the Year program, coinciding with our company approaching 30 years of business.
Why the Award Was Important to Our Company and Family
Superior Shot Peening & Coatings is a family-run, Texas-proud business. Founded by Jack Blasingame and Albert Johnson in 1990, our company was built on strong family values — a hallmark of Texas businesses.
That’s why it was important for our company to apply for the Texas Family Business of the Year award to tell our amazing story and remember our heritage.
“It was a joy for us to celebrate these wonderful Texas family businesses in a way that honored them while showcasing our beautiful campus,” said William J. Worthington, director of the Institute for Family Business.
Out of hundreds of applications, we were proud to join three other Texas-based companies as finalists for the 2019 award. We would also like to congratulate additional winners in categories such as family values, community commitment, and stewardship.
We appreciate the Institute for Family Business at Baylor for their tireless work promoting the tenets of Firm-Family-Faith on a global scale through scholarly research, student learning, and engaged fellowship between family-owned businesses and Baylor University. We look forward to continued involvement in the program for years to follow.
